How companies noticed that you are working with an ITIN number instead of a SSN?

Do they get letters related to employers that are working with an ITIN number?

I dont think you can work with an itin number that numbers is just to do your taxes ...how do they manage to work with their itin?

ITIN numbers all start with two numbers assigned only to them.... 9XX-7X-XXXX or 9XX-8X-XXXX.

SSNs and ITINs contain a code that helps determine whether or not it is fraudulent.  Any employer who runs the numbers employees give through the verification system can find out immediately that the employee has presented an invalid number and is not eligible to work in the US.

Yak Rider is correct; as all ITIN numbers start in the same sequence, just looking at the number will make it obvious to a human resources professional.

ITINs are for federal income tax purposes only. Getting an ITIN does not change your immigration status or your right to work in the United States.

An ITIN number is nine-digit number that always begins with the number 9 and has a 7 or 8 in the fourth digit, example 9XX-7X-XXXX.
