  1. Teleprompters are appropriate for journalists, or news anchors, but they aren't good for great speeches.

Some of the speeches at the RNC were pretty bad tonight.  The governor of Hawaii was a particularly good example of a bad speech.

On the other hand, Rudy Guiliani's speech was pretty convincing and powerful.  He really worked up the crowd.

Sara Palin's speech wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either.  One person mentioned that she didn't use a teleprompter, but that's not true, I saw it in one of the camera shots over her shoulder and you could see the text of her speech scrolling on it.

I was pleased to see her address some issue that I consider to be important (energy and fiscal responsibility), but my concern is that she belongs to the party that has repeatedly broken its promise on fiscal responsibility.  The Republican's *are* big government but they like to say otherwise.

I think McCain made a risky, but potentially powerful choice.  She will make or break the campaign.  Let's see how she does during the debates, that will be much more interesting.

It is a little weird that everything is so scripted now.  In fact, I had already read a fair amount of her speech prior to her giving it because it was leaked to the media, and that really takes away from the power of any speech.

  2. Obama supposed to be on with Oreilly,,, see how THAT goes, not that it matters now that Palin just Ripped them like none other..

  3. She had notes, you could see her looking at them.  She doesn't use a teleprompter.

She had help writing the speech though.

But she also ad libbed some you could tell.

  4. So was I,She was using Cue cards and Her own merit in speaking.Terrible,She should have Obama's handicap!
