  1. As of right now, US is still the leading polluter in the world. US has technology that can help ease some pullutions but I doubt nations like to share technologies. So they will just continue to bash them.

  2. China has 1.2 billion people  who are trying to rise out of poverty by industrializing. For most of them getting  enough to eat is more important to them than pollution and as long as they feel this way the problem can not be solved. Pollution is only a high priority for the relatively rich who have their basic  needs secured, so the only way to end pollution in China is for them to become rich enough so they care about pollution or to push them back into  pre industrialized poverty. Even in the US  when gas prices increased people for got about the environment and 70 percent of them now want to drill everywhere no matter how much damage it does. Human nature is the same everywhere.

  3. While the problem in China is significant, the biggest offender is the United States.  The United States has less than a third of the population of China, but produces the most amount of pollution.  Every country needs to take a larger role in self governing.

As the person before answered that the environmental concern tends to be those of the wealthy and less so of those that aren't.  While that is accurate, but I would say not entirely accurate.  Let me explain further...

If a giant coal burning factory moves next door to a poor Chines village and poison that neighborhood, the residents certainly cares, but are POWERLESS to do anything because of their economic situation.  Whereas if that factory moved next door to a wealthy Chinese neighborhood, the resident care equally, but the wealthy residents have the power and influence to affect change.

The point I'm trying to stress is that wealth and the level of environment protectionism is not entirely related as believed.  If it were then the United States being one of the wealthiest country in the world shoudl have the least pollution.  However, this is not true.  In fact - as I mentioned - the United States is the worse offender.
