How could I apply to work at the embassy, but there is no section "vacancies" or job announcements?

  1. Many US embassies don't advertise job openings widely, to avoid a deluge of applications.  The best thing to do is to call the Human Resources or Personnel department of the embassy you are interested in, briefly explain your qualifications, and ask if there are openings.


  2. I can't answer for other embassy, but the American embassy usually advertises vacancies "in house" first. If they do not get a qualified applicant for a job from those already employed, then they will advertise in local newspapers.

    They do not keep resumes or CV's on file and would not appreciate getting calls from just anyone who wants a job.

    Most positions require specific skills like plumbers, electricians, mechanics OR require advanced educational degrees and work experience in a specific field like Administration, Nursing, or Program Management.

    Occasionally a job will be advertised that requires neither - like a janitorial position - and several hundred applications for every one opening come in. In other words, the competition is pretty fierce.
