  1. The international access code in Japan is 010, so a call to Thailand looks like 010-66-2-xxxxxxx.

The two primary international service providers are KDDI and NTT. Their access numbers are 001 and 0033. If you just dial 010, you get the default provider for that particular phone line. So to specify KDDI, you would dial 001-010-66-2-xxxxxxx. Likewise, for NTT, it's 0033-010-66-2-xxxxxxx.

There are several resellers that provide calling service in the form of international prepaid calling cards. For example, you can get a CosmoGold card and call Thailand for much cheaper than KDDI or NTT. The dialing sequence gets a little more complicated. You dial the toll-free access number first (0120-924-x*x), then you dial the card number on the calling card, then you dial the actual phone number starting with the country code (66-2-xxxxxxx).

  2. +66 no zero and if you dial a portable phone add an 8 since this is "new" since quite a while. Good luck!

  3. The largest international calling company in Japan is KDDI.
