How could I edit this sentence?

"Then you don't get up until around noon because you likely stayed up until the wee hours of the morning watching Showtime."

It's part of an essay I'm writing for my AP Lang class. I just proofread it and it seems to me that something needs to be done with it, but I'm not sure what.

Then, you don't get up until around noon because you likely stayed up until the wee hours of the morning watching Showtime.

Answer is above in case you missed it , it is the comma after "then". Rest of it looks fine though I feel you could replace  the "likely" with "might have".

It depends a bit on the context. I'm not sure in this is dialogue or a quote. You could try:

"You sleep for half of the day, probably because you were watching Showtime into the wee hours of the morning".

This way would be better:

Then you don't get up until around noon because you are likely to have stayed up until the wee hours of the morning, watching the TV program "Showtime".

Answer 4

Then you don't get up until noon because you stayed up late watching Showtime.

Fewer words is always better..
