How could I get myself to get involved with the community and do after-school activities?

I'm going into my senior year and we will be starting college applications, one problem is that I have not done any after-school activities at all during my high school years, and it is recommended that I have some at least. Do colleges care when it happens?

  1. this was the case with me too. i didn't do any extra-curricular activities. so in the last year i joined a club for a month or so and put that in the application to the universities that asked to list after school activities. and i got accepeted to it. they also look at the average. if your average meets their requirement then you are more likely to get in even if you dont have any volunteer experience.

  2. Some colleges may... but if you attempt to be involved your senior year it can't hurt you.. so I would def get involved and put it on your apps!

  3. is there a club to join? like something simple like... yearbook?

  4. Check if your school has a community service club (mine has 2) they help you to get the hours you need and the club will go good on a transcript. You can also google local volunteer work with your city, and you'll get all kind of organizations you can volunteer for in your city. My brother volunteered at the local public library. I volunteered to clean up the beach. There is so much you can do. If your school doesnt have a volunteer work club you can start one up, it looks very very good on college applications and im sure a lot of students will join cause they need the hours too. Well Good Luck! I hope you come up with a solution i hope this helps!
