  1. you need to apply for a 1 year bussiness visa. you will need to apply through a visa service for this becuase they will get you a business sponsor to send in with your application. 1 year is the longest you can get a visa for.

(the business sponsor doesnt actually offer you a job it is mearly symbolic to get the visa)

you can get one without going through a visa service but it is a real headache. it cost around 360.00 to 400.00 and your passport has to be valid for 6 months past the visa's experation date.

I have done this 4 times so I know about doing it. below is the link to the site i always use for getting mine. they are good and always get things done right

once in russia you have to get your visa registered and they will do this for you if you dont then you have to go to a hotel to get it registered.

what are you going to do there for employment? there are alot of ads for english teachers in moscow. I did it you dont have to be a teacher just an native english speaker you make around $15.00 US and hour.

you can also rent a room in peoples flats for very cheap. it is getting expensive there. I stay with a lady called Galina her flat is in a area of moscow called Chistye Prudy wich means clean ponds. its a real nice area to stay you are within walking distance to the kremilin, balshoy theater, puskin museum and alot of other stuff and you are only a 2 minute walk to the metro station, bus and rail cars.

buy a lonnley planet guide to russia and read up. if you have never been to russia you will love it. I go several times a year. aside from moscow Yekaterinasberg, and st petersberg are a must.

also if you go one must see is an old soviet era statue museum. most people never go there becuase it isnt something they advertise much, but it is easy to find. ask how to get to gorky park (famous park everyone knows where it is). when you get to gorky park's entrance turn and face away from it looking across the street you will see a large building it is a sports center where inside they play hockey and such walk to the right side of the building (inside the fence) to the back of it there you will run into the entrance gate for the statue museum it cost about 2.00 us to get in. in there are a bunch of statues from the soveit era. Stalin, lenin, and things like that very neat to see
