I have been doing a project recording sound on an old-school casette player on an audio tape and I was just wondering if there was a way I could record this onto my computer?

  1. Like the answer above me said, there is a module for doing this if you want to spend the money.  see the link below.  If you do not want to spend $$, you can do this almost free as follows:

Connect the Aux, or Line output of the cassette recorder to the Aux or Line input of your computer.

If your cassette recorder does not have a Line or an Aux out, you can use the earphone jack.  You will need a mini to mini cord to do this, you can get one at Radio Shack.

After you get it connected, the cassette should play through your computer speakers.  After you make that happen, you can record it with Sound Recorder, which is part of Windows.  Find it here:  "Start" "All Programs" Accessories" "Entertainment" "Sound Recorder"

It will take some time to get acquainted with Sound Recorder.  If you have trouble with it you can email me and I will tutor you.

After you get your recording into the computer I expect you already know how to make a CD of it.

  2. Maplins sell a cassette module that connects into your PC like a cd drive
