  1. It is a focus point of a community. People head to the movies to socialise, make friends and take time out of their normal daily lives. Cultural change is brought about by the exposure to new ideas and ways of doing things.

For the movie threatre to be productive it needs a large enough population to make a profit. It is likely to influence migration due to the fact that a more highly populated area attract more people because they offer more things to do and percieved better oppotunities. Growth promotes growth.

  2. movie theatre represent a lot of things

    1. new ideas and concepts

    2. a certain way of life

    3. aspirations unrelated to one's own context are determined through the movies. these aspirations influence many to migrate in hopes for fulfillment e.g. The Great American Dream.

    4. a different aesthetic appeal.. look at the architecture of the building, the art or the advertisements, the way things are depicted in that "appealing" sort of way

  3. in addition to socially attending the movie, the movies bring about cultural change.  think about living in a secluded rural area - international movies, dramas, even comedies can bring new ideas or fads.  it influences migration to the community as part of urbanization - people move where other people are, and theatres symbolize a certain population has been reached.
