  1. The knowledge is gradual.  I'm not a doctor, but I did take several anatomy physiology classes.  I still remember most of the information.  There are a lot of learning tools doctors use.  I was an EMT for a bit and I still remember how to put in an IV, how to do CPR, etc, etc.  It's a mixture of book study and hands on learning.  Think about how fast you read.  You didn't start out reading that fast, right?  Of course not.  It took learning the alphabet, learning the sounds of the letters, learning how to put the words together, learning how to read sentences... it took a long time and a lot of practice.  Doctors go to school for a really long time.

Obviously, you are very young.  You gain confidence as you get older.  Because I used to be an EMT, I've got friends coming by and asking me if I think they need to go to the hospital.  More often than not, they don't, so I saved them an expensive trip to the ER.  Medicine is all about ruling things out.

If you study hard, you can do it.

  2. You got the wrong attitude. If you have the ability. and the talent, it is just like any other job. I heard that the average I Q of a doctor was only 108. It's not about being smart, it's about being a good student. If it is what you want go for it.

  3. No one can remember everything they learned in school.  They get the training to know what to look for and where to find it.  It's a lot of research.  Never say never.

  4. Because, you know when an answer is from a doctor or a person that doesn´t know anything of the medicine.

  5. That's why we spend so much time training.  At first, we don't trust ourselves either, and that's why we are supervised closely as interns and junior residents.

Years of experience and many hundreds of patients help increase confidence.  We also learn how to find the answers we need if we don't know.  We look things up, ask colleagues... whatever it takes.
