  1. You can't get a permit to own one at all. Plain and simple.

That's why I'm never moving to Cali for as long as I live.

  2. as a regular citizen, you cannot get a permit for these, plain and simple.

there is one rescue which has a permit for ferrets, and that is it. no one else will be able to get one. you might be able to volunteer for them and work with them on transporting ferrets out of state so they aren't put down...but you won't be able to legally own one of your own until legislation is changed. write letters to arnold, and work to get these laws overturned. that is your best bet at being able to have one a as pet there.

hedgehogs are also not permitted to be kept as pets. the only ones who get permits for them are those using them for educational purposes, and even then it is granted very seldom.

the state dept of fish & game is the one to go to for permit info. they can let you know just what the criteria is to fill out an application for permits of either of these animals.

    their contact info is:

    California Fish and Game Commission

    1416 Ninth Street

    P.O. Box 944209

    Sacramento, CA 94244-2090

    (916) 653-4899.
