How could i start this essay off?

Write a 1000 word essay in which your respond to the following prompt:

As students and as teachers, we are surrounded by the educational system everyday, but it is easy to gloss over the details of education, the assumptions behind it and the role of those people who make up the educational system: students, teachers, community.

I need help starting it off. please help

I used to advise my students to start an essay that had them stumped by rewording the question to be the first sentence of the answer.  However, your prompt is not clearly a question, so that approach won't work here.  You need to take the prompt apart and ask yourself questions.  How, for example, do we "gloss over the assumptions and roles"?  What ARE the assumptions?  What ARE or SHOULD BE the roles?

You might answer those questions and any others you come up with, then reread the body before you write your introduction.  Sometimes you need to know what you are going to say in order to introduce it effectively.

Your introduction should tell your reader what the basic idea you are going to try to get across is, and what basic points support your idea, then the essay itself should make the point and support it in great detail.
