is it a good job, i know that you feel good about yourself for helping people but does it require long work hours?

also i don't think i'd like to work in a hospital they are so sterile and not cozy.

is being a doctor like on the sitcom scrubs at all?

  1. Of course it's a good job, it's a great job. Hospitals aren't the only place that needs doctors. There are private clinics, and even tent hospitals in 3rd world countries.

As a medical student I assure you it's nothing like that stupid show scrubs. It's a ton of work and stress, and will continue to get worse for awhile, but it's also very rewarding. Most doctors I work with work around 60 hours a week, a private pratice would probably do less. And the big kicker: while in residency I've been told 100+ should be expected.

  2. It takes a long time to become a doctor=4 years of college,4 years of med. school, and 4 years of residencey.  and you start out making not that much money it takes almost 2 years until you start to good money. To me after all it is worth it because you know that you are doing someting good for the people and you also have to pass this test to get into med school so you'll basically be 30 years old when you start working as a doctor, and depending on what doctor you want to be it can take longer or shorter.
