A global warming skeptic said to me that the greenhouse effect wasn't real and said it was made up by Al Gore. It's the very thing that keeps us from freezing. Well done skeptics you reached a new low.

(I don't like Al Gore, just to let you know, so don't send hate mail saying 'UR g*y U LIKE AL GORE')

  1. well there are many arguments but the biggest is that global warming is a joke that theory would actually cool the earth , by its assumption but we are getting warmer.

the science just doesn't quite work , as far as i can tell its still a natural cycle the earth is on , we don't have enough data to justify going back to sailing ships instead of tankers.

witch is a proposed solution to help combat global warming

U_S_S_Enterprise: psst he is American you having a wet summer is the reason its hot in his room, that's his rain you got

  2. I doubt they said (or meant) that the greenhouse effect wasnt real but rather that the theory of manmade global warming was not real- Huge difference between the two statements. 95-97% of all greenhouse gases is water vapor NOT CO2 which is a fraction of the remaining 3-5%. CO2 levels have been shown to follow warming not lead it. The melting Ice in Greenland reveals evidence that the land was once farmed therefore obviously wasnt under ice at that time etc etc etc

  3. I wrote a paper on how much "global warming" is "BS".... I'm not saying that the effect isn't real, I'm saying that the media has blown this way out of proportion.... there are obvious other reasons for the rising climate... this is not "BS"

  4. For some people, the greenhouse effect is against their economic interests.  Money is a strong force, and many people place money above all logic.  That is the fundamental reason.

  5. That skeptic sounds like one of the idiots that voted for bush not once but twice.....He doesnt have a clue with reality.

  6. Well, the earth warmed like this b4 the last ice age too, so they may be thinking that but ti is a little crazy.

  7. The greenhouse effect is indeed real.  Some, like Al Gore, seem to be bent on playing a blame game.

What is not, is all the fault of people.  I confess, the industrialized world has done much to accelerate it, but too many natural process, release of methane from the oceans bottom, do much more to produce this effect.

  8. how could anyone think the tempreture of the world would remain stable ,,,i think that people question human causes and i personaly think that the idea that humans can do anything about it is absurd

  9. The global warming skeptic is not alone.  There are many people, including environmental experts, who disagree with the idea of the greenhouse effect.  Their reasons vary.  (See link below)  It should be said though that the greenhouse effect is mostly theory and therefore debatable.  A healthy dose of skepticism is always necessary whenever a new theory is presented.  So, even though I don’t agree that Al Gore made up the theory of global warming, I do think that it has yet to be proven in its totality.

  10. its, not... not yet at least. its still just a concept. greenhouse gasses are real. and global warming is real. but the green house effect is once we get to a certain point in global warming where all the "symptoms" so to speak work together and make everything worse even if we cleaned up our act. kinda like the point of no return.

  11. Al Gore denied this so there would not be a mass panic in the world.  Isn't it obvious.  The government has lied about several issues at hand.  I recommend that everyone prepare for what's next to come.  We are in the year 2007.  Time is speeding up.  Enjoy life while it's here.

  12. Probably the same way people could try to deny the Holocaust.

  13. O-Zone Al no facts just b.s. another air head liberal

  14. Since the fanatics equal global warming with greenhouse effect - and we had the coldest and wettest summer in a long time here.

If it was supposedly getting warmer, then why did we have such a wet summer? (In The Netherlands).

It makes me doubt about the validity of the claims being made, at least.

  15. Man-made global warming is an invention of the NWO, in order to raise taxes, and implement new taxes.Go ahead and hit me with all of your clever "tin-foil hat" cracks, because it won't bother me. It's just my opinion, take it for what it's worth.

    :-o

  16. Some people don't foresee. Its effects we are not feeling much at the time but scientists have foresight and they know what is going to happen.

  17. because they are republican

  18. There's no question that the greenhouse effect is real; the question is whether it is *significant*.

Carbon dioxide levels have been more than 100 times as high in the past - and that was in the middle of an ice age.

More recently, global temperatures *fell* from 1945 until 1970, at a time when carbon dioxide levels were rapidly rising. Global temperatures fell during the "little ice age" as well, at a time when carbon dioxide levels were rising.

We're conducting an open-ended experiment with carbon dioxide levels. That seems rather stupid. The planet's air is dirty, and pretty much everyone agrees that we should clean it up.

I was highly impressed by Gore's movie, and figured it would be useful to translate the movie into print, so that people could link to the various arguments and illustrations, each one in turn linking to well-accepted research that backs up the argument or illustration. I found it was impossible, because Gore makes almost no statements which aren't lies.

I gave up on the project, but Mary Ellen Gilder, a medical school student at Albany Medical College, ended up following through.  Gilder found, as I did, that Gore's documentary was riddled with egregious distortions and falsehoods. She did the basic, balanced research that so many politicos and journalists have not. She accessed readily available scientific articles and papers from respected sources. And you can read the resulting paper at the link below.

  19. I am one who feels certain that global warming is an established trend.  However, I don't think it is worth it to expend energy wondering how others don't see as you do.  The beautiful thing about science is that it address and withstand any and all challenges.  While Darwin's "Origin of Species" is self-evident to me, it is still not 100% accepted today, almost 150 years later!  In the case of global warming, I believe acceptance will come faster as economic (as well as environmental) benefits become apparent.  Economics being strong drivers of change.
