How could sulfur be getting into my house?

I moved in 5 yrs ago & had new Trane ac unit installed. It went through 3 coils & I was told it could possibly be sulfur. This May I had a whole new unit (Trane also) installed, & already the coil in it has gone bad. The company keeps insisting its sulfur, but how is it getting in my house. Is there a way to detect it & find out where its coming from?

  2. The same company I assume? What happened to your warranty? If you had a problem fixed while under warranty and it has the same problem going forward, they haven't fixed the original problem yet. It very well could be the installation at fault both times. Call another company. If you had sulfur in your house you and it would smell like rotten eggs.

  3. Sulfur, in large concentrations, smells somewhat like rotten eggs. For sulfur to attack and ruin the coils of an AC it seems to me the concentration would have to be very large indeed. I would ask them to prove it was sulphur by doing air quality tests. I really feel you'd notice the sulphur smell (it's quite obnoxious) if it were strong enough to be the culprit.
