Question:

How could the UK become a republic?

could this been done legally? does the queen not sign all acts to make them in to law? how could she be expected to sign a document removing her and her whole family from the crown? further more the military forces are loyal to the crown, if a mp or pm proposed this would our armed forces be split in half? diffrent camps?

  1. The same way as France and Germany could become monarchies again: In a fair referendum.

    The number of republicans in the UK equals that of the royalists/monarchists in France or Germany: 20 percent.

    The republicans in Australia failed in a referendum in 1999 to abolish the monarchy and are still l*****g their wounds after that defeat.


  2. If only. It's about time Britain became a grown up state.

  3. I suppose the usual way would be to put forward a Bill in Parliament and Debate it. If there was not a Consenus owing to the fact that the Question was very Reactionary and Devisive  it would have to be put forward to the People in a Plebiscite or Referendum and Vote whether Britain wanted to Eject the Royal Family. Then if there was a Majority Decision the Monarch would be asked to Abdicate, then the fun would start there might be another Civil War. If there was a Majority Vote then it is Legal and she should go

    in theory but in Practice who knows.
