How could we help the environment?

Question

Does any one have any ideas that me and a couple of my friends could do? The project is called Mr. Nobody and we want to do a whole bunch of little things to help the environment, it can involve our school as well, we just can't think of anything to do! Does any one have any ideas? Just remember that it has to help the environment, and that it can involve our school! Thanx to any one who gives ideas! :)

Plant a tree/ make a garden. Not only is it beneficial to the environment but it's fun! We used to get cheap trees from school on earth day. Maybe find a cheap tree sapling and sell them at school for cheap?

Best thing you can do is use less energy. Start with all the unnecessary stuff you have. My suggestion, get rid of your internet access, your PC, your XBOX or Playstation and your cell phone. If enough kids stopped using all their electronic c**p, it would make a dent.

1 adopt a road  around your school than once a month go out and do a road side clean up

2 contact a local fish and game club see if there is a river or creek that needs clean up or bed rehabilitation

3 if you have a local swimming area in a lake do a clean up of the area and in the water to remove garbage plant some trees or shrubs

4 if your school yard is bland plant the flower gardens with native plants that produce seeds and berries for migrating birds, plant shade trees in the school yard,repair or repaint basket ball courts lines,or tennis court lines

Traditional incandescent light bulbs are only about 10%- they produce far more heat than light. In comparison, CFLs use about one-forth the energy to give the same amount of light. Plus CFLs last for years. When not using a certain object such as a TV, computer ect you should always turn it off. Instead of turning the air conditioners on you should go outside and enjoy the fresh air, even open your windows. Hot water represents 20% of a home’s energy use, and you can save a lot by installing a shower head that uses much less water but still provides a pleasant shower. Many of the detergents used today are for cold water and it also helps us solve the crisis of global warming. Instead of using the dryer why not use the clothes line, plus you save money too. The best thing you could do is plant a tree in your yard. You could also grow a garden. You could follow the rule of the three R’s reduce, reuse, and recycle in that order. You don’t want to bring plastic bags when you are going shopping why not bring your own bag. It really helps the environment. Going anywhere, try to drive less, drive gently and you could share a ride with someone. So what will you do to help us fight global warming? Many suggestions are listed on the internet.

Little things to help the environment can include: (In a general order of difficulty)

Picking up garbage

Planting flowers

Promote recycling (I suggest making it easier for people to recycle.  This can include offering to pick up the recycling at a person's door or having a designated place at school where they can easily drop it off.)

Planting a tree (Or many trees)

Putting out more garbage cans/places to put cigarette buts (And have them emptied at least once a week)

You could also give away energy saving light bulbs and other environmentally friendly things, but that costs lots of money so I would consider it harder to do then the others.
