  1. It is specific for the software. I don't know any way to make regular single-workstation program to benefit from distributed processing  configuration


  2. Windows is not designed for computer clustering and distributed processing. There is no way you can configure windows to do this.

    Linux can be and is used to create multi-machine clusters. The problem is that the applications must also be written to take advantage of the power. For the average user and program, it's cheaper and easier to buy a new, more powerful box.
