  1. You have to pick a date in bold.  Your computer created restore points and you can only restore to one of those points.  You're only other option is to do a complete system restore back to factory settings.  This will cause you to lose everything you have saved and put you back as though you just took it out of the box brand new.  To do this, you'll need a recovery disk that should have came with your pc.  Some pc's have a restore partition on the hard drive.  If that is the case, you'll need to know what keys to hit to access it.  (Dell desktops- hit Ctrl + F12 at startup.. Dell laptops- hit Ctrl + F11 at start up)

  2. You have no choice but to pick up a date which is in bold. Theses are the dates whe the system aotomatically created backups. In case you had created a backup yourself using the system restore option on a particular date, then, that date would have also appeared as bold. Simply click the lastest date which appears bold and restore your system. In case the system is not restored, then, log on using the 'Safe Mode' and choose an earlier date for restore.

One of the nbest softwares for restoring your ssytem is 'Acronis True Image Home'. In case you can afford it, then buy it and you will never loose any data.
