I know very little about guns/ pellets etc, so a discussion of muzzle velocity really wont help. In simple terms, how dangerous are these things?

Will they leave you with a bruise, a laceration, deep wound, death etc etc?

  1. BB/Pellet guns are NOT harmless.  They can cause serious injury or death.  Any other answer would be irresponsible.

You must treat them the same as you would treat a shotgun, pistol, or rifle.

  2. bb guns are pretty much harmless   but they are still guns so you have to be careful

it depends on how close you are to the target and how many pumps before the trigger is pulled

never point it at anyone just to be on the safe side

  3. Could be fatal if shot at close range and hit the right place. Serious injury is almost assured.

The is the rifle of the Canadian Cadets. I assume it will be used under some sort of adult supervision.

Kids need to be supervised and trained about gun safety. Some have enough maturity by 16-17 to do the right thing. Some don't.

  4. you will shoot your eye out!! haha

if you shoot someone point blank at that little grove just behind your ear, you can kill them. Other than that it will just leave a welt.

  5. Daisy isn't exaggerating when they say that misuse or careless use can cause death or serious injury. Every year a handful of people (usually children) die from injuries inflicted by air guns. At close range (10-15 yards, maybe a smidgen more) the gun you mentioned has enough power to kill birds, mice/rats, and squirrels (if you hit them in either the head or vital organs). On a person, it would have enough energy to penetrate the skin at similar distances. If the pellet hit just right (or wrong depending on your perspective) it could potentially kill a human. You'd need a shot through the eye into the brain or a shot to an artery that was close to the skin to do it, but it is possible. If at close range, it didn't hit just right you'd probably get a small diameter puncture wound. It would still require a trip to the hospital, but it wouldn't be life threatening.
