Iraq is obviously a dangerous place.  But despite what our bull**** media likes to report, Iraq is a much safer place today than it was several years ago.

You are more likely to die in a car crash here in the mainland than you are dying in combat in Iraq.

Actually the death rate for US Soldiers isn't as high as it was during the past years of the war. It's been letting down abit.

The truth---- it only takes one death of someone close to you to realize that it's not safe now than before. Any soldier going to iraq needs to have his head on a pivot and not get complacent. With that being said the level of attacks against US troops have decreased significantly from a year or two ago. But whether 30 troops get killed or "only" 1 troop gets killed doesn't matter to people until that one soldier is one of their own. I am not going to talk about Black hawk pilots and there vulnerabilities. But if you look at how many flights are taken in iraq compared to how many come down do to mechanical failure or enemy fire. Chances are your pilot is going to be fine. But as long as soldiers do not let their guards down they will do well.
