  1. LMAO.....you'll be hoping so, won't you??

  2. Usually applying the choke will only make someone temporarily pass out, thats if the person applying it lets go right away, but other wise it could be very dangerous, the brain can only go so long with out the blood and oxygen that the rear naked ristricts from reaching the brain.

  3. in a street fight he may bite your arm or dig his nails into your arm street fights people are willing to do anything its kill or be killed would he worry about you if he was choking you out?

  4. ok there are also 2 types of chokes blood and air chokes. the easiest is to use a blood choke where u close off the carotid arteries and they black out for well a few minutes @ least unless u hold it too long then brain damage then mayb death.  lets say u use a rear naked choke or a guillotine yes both blood chokes u can hold them for about 1.5 to 2 minutes before causing brain damage but it only takes about 35-45 seconds to make them pass out, best advice well dont get caught in that kinda situation. idk about your teacher but mine wouldnt allow fighting/sparring of anykind outside the dojo. believe me u can tell when u choke someone completely out tho once uve actually done it.

  5. Your not meant to actually "choke" someone. But trick the brain in to thinking that the blood pressure has dropped. I've been choked out in class before, it's not pleasant but you get used to it. And you wake up fairly quickly. But I admit I was in a controlled situation.

  6. the sleeper hold takes a lot of training and control. please don't attempt it  until your teacher is confident that you've mastered it.

  7. its so dangerous, you might kill them.

  8. Why don't you try it and let us know.

  9. It is very dangerous if you don't know what your doing. It takes about 3lbs. of pressure to crush the voice box,and larynx thus destroying the wind pipe.Done improperly will kill the subject. If you lift above the adam's apple with continuous upper pressure the subject will fall-out in a matter of 2 minutes,or less. They will revive pretty easy with out much help.It really isn't a game but I use to do it as a child also.

  10. put it this way...hold it for a few seconds too long and they have brain damage. hold it for a few seconds longer and they die. why do you think so many people have been hanged or hung themselves over the years? its very dangerous.

a sensei i know in arizona told me of a study by the mayo clinic (i think)...where a person was choked for 2 seconds or something...and it took a full 48 hours for the persons brain waves to return to normal.

you dont have to choke someone out...you can actually get arrested for that possibly. chokes can really take the fight out of you.

listen closely...you DO NOT have to DEFEAT your attacker in self defense. this is the primary difference between self defense and sport fighting. in a sport match you have to WIN, or DEFEAT your opponent. in a self defense situation...you just have to survive, or escape.

of course if the situation is THAT dangerous (level of force)...you would break the arm (dislocation is more likely) . it all depends on how serious the attack is. you cant tear someones arm out of its socket for calling you a prick afterall. in mma and jujutsu the moves are applied somewhat slowly so the person has time to tap out. in other words they are signaling to you the fact that you could've just broken their arm, or choked them out.

now...is getting choked in class or competition gonna kill you? no.

  11. My boyfriend did this.

You hold your throat, and right before you pass out you let go.

He woke back up but he had a horrible headache, since im sure it killed plenty brain cells.

its a dumb idea. You could really hurt someone or yourself.

    Or even die.

  12. Not always. Techniques against the neck can be divided into 3 catagories: Chokes, Cranks, and Strangulations. Cranks are techniques that work against the vertebrae and are dangerous in that they can cause herniation of the discs and/or actual breaking of the neck. Chokes involve cutting off the air supply by trachial pressure. Again, dangerous because: 1. you can cause swelling and/or internal bleeding in the esophagous or trachea which could lead to choking and/or death, and, 2. it takes a long time to put someone out by cutting off their air supply. Strangulations (often mistakenly referred to as chokes) involve cutting off blood flow to the brain. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS because it takes just a few seconds to put someone out with a correctly applied strangulation. If held too long, brain asphixia starts to set in which can lead to brain damage and death. If held just a little too long, you may have to start CPR to bring the person back to conciousness. NEVER, EVER attempt to apply a strangulation to anyone without proper training and a qualified instructor present who also is skilled in resuscitation techniques.
