  1. ponds are smaller'en lakes.

"Scientifically, a pond is any man made body of water where light is found in the entire pond body of water. A lake is any body of water that has a profundal zone; there is as limit of effective light penetration for organisms."

"Roots can grow throught the pond because it is 12-15 feet deep near the center. The sun can warm up the pond top to bottom, so roots and plants can grow."

  2. A pond, by definition, is a lentic body of water that does not stratify. Although there are finaigle factors involved, most ponds are not very deep, as compared to lakes (which do stratify).

If you need to know the depth, you will probably have to get a boat, a weight, and a rope, unless the pond has been surveyed.

  3. ?

  4. By definition, not very deep. A pond freezes all the way to the bottom, as opposed to a lake, which will have a layer of floating ice.

  5. i cant even see it it is in a field/pasture (i mean the 2nd one not the first)

  6. I think the ones that you usually see near developments like that are no more than 20 feet deep.  Its hard to say without being there.
