Question:

How deep should a 7 in 1 shot go?

I gave my dog the 7 in 1 shot in the neck as told. I put the needle under the skin and emptied the syringe. Should I have put it deeper into the tissue? I think what I did was fine, I just keep thinking and now can't sleep. What do you think?

  1. sounds ok, if a bump arises, just use a heat compress and rub it in, and it should go away- thats what happened after i went to the vet.

    also you should have rubbed it in after injecting.

    out of curiosity can you edit ur details and put where and for how much u got the injection? i want to see how much i overpaid for mine...

    lol  =D

  2. Sounds right, keep an eye on the area because sometimes the area may get swollen and sore. other than that you should be alright, if you are really worries just call the vet and ask them if they think you did it correct, they will be more than happy to give you advice over the phone

  3. Yeah,just under the skin is correct. It should be fine. I get my vaccines at Tractor Supply,except for rabies,which my vet does.

  4. It doesn't go into  the tissue. It goes in the loose skin at the scruff of the neck. If you lifted the skin and just injected into the fold, then you did fine. If you jabbed it into the meat, you may be heading to the vet's tomorrow.

  5. That's correct, just watch him for side effects.  Some dogs get allergic reactions, but swelling at the injection site is normal.

  6. If you gave it under the skin, then all should be fine. This is why Vet's should be the only one vaccinating pets. This is also why most Vet's, boarding facilities etc do not recognize vaccines given by anyone other than a Vet (or experienced breeder) since they do not know if the vaccine was administered, stored and/or handled properly.

  7. it should b fine.

  8. You did it right, I have raised puppies for 8 yrs and that is the way it is done. If you stick them in the muscle it will hurt more, but would not do harm. So don't worry the puppy will be fine.
