Don't worry, I am not relying solely onYahoo Answers for this important decision, but I figure this is a good place to start. I am a US citizen and she is from Uzbekistan. We are currently in Germany.

Does anyone know how long it takes and where to go? I am leaving to go back to the States in July. Is that enough time to get her a visa?

  1. How long have you been in Germany? Typically, U.S. Embassies will allow you to file the paperwork at the Embassy if you have been resident in a country for six months or more. Being able to file at the Embassy will greatly speed up the process. The U.S. Missions in Germany do allow a US Citizen to file for their spouse if both the citizen and the spouse reside in Germany:

If you do not reside in Germany, you will most likely have to go back to the U.S. without your spouse and file the petition there. This process normally takes around a year, plus or minus three months.

  2. Have you married a cat?

  3. You will have to return to the states then apply for a spousal visa for your wife...this is NOT quick and can easily take 2 to 3 years.  See site below to do your research on the spousal visa.  You may want to consult an immigration lawyer.

  4. soonest they receive all  ur documentation it will take about 6 months to schedule the interview.
