Ok i have a Samsung 1080p full HD, true surround XT!

what exactly does this mean & why am i not able to watch Hd chanels witout a HD box?

  1. Full HD is a Marketing term for TVs that support 1080p input.

    You don't specify how you try to watch HD. Via cable, satellite, or off-the-air?

    For Off-the-air, you need an antenna.

    From Cable, it all depends on your cable service. If you just get analog, don't expect any HD channels.

    If you have digital cable, you may get a few HD cahnnels with basic cable, but it all depends on your cable provider.

    If you can receive cable channels via the TV tuner, then your TV is QAM-ready.
