How did Black Dehlia die?

i read a question where it was mentioned that there was someone named Black Dehlia who was murdered the same way dehlia draycott did in the movie Nancy Drew and i was wondering how she died.

Elizabeth Short, the Black Dahlia, was found cut in half,  January 15, 1947.  The link below has the information, but it was a particularly gruesome murder and some of the photos are very graphic.
