How did Brazil end up being so multicultural?

I find it quite amazing how almost every ethnic group in existence can be found in Brazil. But just how did they end up there?

I'm brasilian, and, what i have seem here, the imigrants como here because brasilian welcome anybody who wants to live here.

At truth, brasilian can treat better people from other coutries than ourselves.

You have a lot of respect of people from any other country, especially developed coutries... But I know that we have to consider historic aspects, but it isn't the only way that we be so multiethnic.

Slavery is the main aspects of african culture, but, we have today some imigrants from portuguese language coutries from Africa.

About japanese, for example, only Japan have more japaneses than here.

We like to receive people and help him in anything because we are a people with so many difficuties then, the people whom came him run away from wars, fell better here!

I believe it all began when Portuguese people went to Brazil, really. Unlike other nations which would simply exterminate the natives, they have mostly taken Brazilian natives to be slaves and in that prospect, introduced them to their culture as well. African slavery came after they’ve realised the locals were too proud, lazy or weak to work. That introduced a new race and culture in Brazil.

Most of the times, Portuguese and slaves would end up having children between them, creating a new race, a blending which is difficult to see anywhere else. Its hard to find purely black, white or native people around in Brazil. The colours of skin, eyes and hair are all over on a beautiful and wonderful display. Of course this translates to the culture being easy absorbed by anyone, because you don’t have to belong to a group, its like everyone is part of a whole.

Later on, with WW1 and WW2, Europeans, Japanese, Lebanese and many others have gone to Brazil looking for a freedom and peace they could meet no more in their own countries. Brazil has always welcomed anyone into its arms, and this time was no different. The food, songs, accents were quickly just blended in the Brazilian way of being.

Brazil had many native Indian groups living on its territory prior of the Europeans arrival of the mid 1500,s.  Then at that time many Europeans, mainly from Portugal, Spain and England starting to migrate to the area.  During this period of Portugal's occupation many slaves were imported from Africa.

The country is very big and rich on natural resources.  Over the years many different types of people have migrated to Brazil and quite a few decide to call it home after that.

Like most of the countries that were Spanish or Portuguese colonies, Brazil developed a fairly open multicultural acceptance environment.

Along with slavery Brazil also was very pro-immigration. The last Emperor of Brazil, Dom Pedro II opened up the border and actively sought immigrants from around the globe.

When Portuguese people "found" Brazil there was many natives. They had kids mixed. After arrived the slaves from Africa they got mixed with Brazilians in 1888 they got free. Italians, Spanishes came to Brazil wishing a better life, they worked the work of the past slaves because they were free. German people went to live in south because it is cold like Germany. Now we have a lot of Chinese people wishing a better life here usually selling food.

It changed our skin, face, culture and language. And it is already changing. All immigrants we had and we have made the nation we have now.

Probable because it is mostly a Christian country, it's when a country starts letting millions of Muslims in that it all turns sour, because of their gimme, gimme, gimme attitude, and we must have this and we must have that!
