How did Dennis Chavez die?

He was supposedly my great great grandfather, but on the research I got it said he died in 1962, but that is weird 'cause my grandpa said he died when he was a teenager.

HOW he died, will only be on his death certificte.  Since Dennis Chavez will be a common name, it is important to insure that whatever records you find, are absolutely YOUR ancestor.  That is the basic foundation of the whole thing.

When you mention "research you got", does that mean it came from someone else?  Very possible that they located information and didn't make a good effort to connect it to the right person.  Example... did he have another first name (Dennis perhaps is nickname or middle name) and his death record is under another name? Did he die in the US? I don't see a Dennis with that year in the social security death index.  Both Calif and Texas have online indexes.  Is it correct that your grandpa would be a teenager in 1962?

Overall... be absolutely sure that you have worked back each generation step by step AND have independent records to back all of it up.  Don't skip a step. Review which documents you have to work with, and see if you can find others (birth documents, so forth).
