The Watcher makes many good points, my boss pays me 25% for every vehicle I tow for him. I make about $900 per week and we have about 16 drivers who all get 25% per tow? If I got offered something that paid 10 times the amount I normally get I would jump on it! Sounds like a good oppurtunity.

Well, the fact is that he was a great promoter back in the day, but he did it by taking advantage of ignorant boxing managers. The fact is that most of the boxers and their "managers" were inexperienced with the way they handled their boxers money they just were manipulated by the "Don".  Now days there are more independent financial managers and lawyers dedicated to preventing things like that now days, thats why " The Don" has been having problems now days.   I think everyone saw the catastrophe on a guy named Mike Tyson and they all learned on that example.

For the most part, most of these answers are wrong, I just don't want to offend anyone. But this is how DK works. I will not name any fighters but I will give you an example from first hand knowledge.

Dk will say hay # 4 guy I have a fight for you against guy #1. I will pay you $2 million dollars for this fight "BUT" I want $1 million back with all taxes on this money paid by you.

Basically guy # 4 after paying his manager, trainers and all of his other expenses he will probably be left with about $425K or so. Does this make DK a crook? well thats for you to answer, but let me tell you something, most of these fighters were only making about $25 maybe $50K or so before DK.

Its your call on this one, but I see it this way, he gives you an opportunity to fight for good money. Now if you win and become a champ, well you will have bigger paydays to come. He didn't rip Tyson off, Tyson was an idiot with his money. He had a $400K per year cell phone bill for him and his crew & thats just the beginning of his dumb spendings.

Is he an angel? h**l no but who is? he gives fighters an opportunity thats it. He did however once deduct $500 dollars from our pay for unexpected hotel cost that took about 6 months to get back after complaining for about a month.

If you let your self get screwed it will happen from anyone not just boxing promoters. You probably only get a 1/3 of the money your employer makes of off you working right?

EXTRA NOTES:

Tyson made over $300 mil & now he's broke & this is all his fault regardless of the people in his life. People need to stop blaming DK or Robin Givens or anyone else for Tyson's down fall he is a grown a$$ man. I am not a friend of DK or do I hang with him, he gave us opportunities and thats it. Now more important who else has he ruined? everyone always uses Tyson to label DK

what the watcher is saying is sound business ventures by King,but were he is wrong is that people are not strictly talking only about money with Mike Tyson,they're also talking of him blowing Mike head with his racist c**p reg Jim Jacobs and Kevin Rooney and the whole crew that got him to be world champion and the phenomena that was 20 yr old Tyson Many people look at King as the beginning of the end of Tyson's short reign as champion,including Tyson himself,he was never the same fighter when his mentor D'mato died but was also very vulnerable to influences from the likes of Don King,it was that villain what changed Mike's persona from a likable guy to a hate filled self destruct machine,oh,and a small matter of Robin Givens and Desiree Washington!!So just to say King is a shrewd businessman Watcher is misleading,evrytime I see that guy near a boxer he gives me the creeps,esp when I see him with Tyson and see how quickly Mike's downfall came..haha,the Trolls are out in force again,I dont think you realise how much entertainment your providing me with!Icould name everyone of you,and your sick because Blogbabba1/2 was conning you for months,now his other self is here blogbabba3,thats how bright the gang of 5 is.
