  1. Elizabeth I of England died childless at the age of 70, most likely of old age at Richmond Palace on 24 March 1603. She was succeeded by her nephew, who became James I (James VI of Scotland).

  2. Which history book are you looking at? Elizabeth I died and had named James VI of scotland to be Her heir.By taking on the throne of England, he became James I of England (in addition to being James VI north of the border)

  3. She did not he took over from her.

The English throne was obviously preferable to the Scots one because James the 4th of Scotland could not get to London fast enough to become James the 1st of England. I understand that the throne was in the gift of Elizabeth and she left it to James 4th of Scotland

  4. Eh?????????

  5. Wrong way round, James VI and I succeded Elizabeth I as monarch when Elizabeth died as her closest living relative.

  6. James IVof Scotland became James 1st of Great Britain when Elizabeth died.

This united the countries of the British Isles

Ironically Elizabeth had James' mother beheaded for trying allegedly to usurp the English throne.

She was Mary Queen of Scots.

    Hope this helps

  7. James I succeeded Elizabeth I after she died naturally.

Elizabeth I did not come after James I!

  8. with force
