  1. Though they were farmers and peasents most were hunters so they were skilled with their rifle and they got basic training. They never did exceptionally good they just won a few important battles. Not only were many hunters but it was Americans fighting in America, they knew the lay of the land and they didn't have to fight guerilla warfare as the British did. Another important reason is that the British underestimated the American resolve and ability and in addition overestimated their own abilities and did not use the might of the British army they merely lightly reinforced their American intrests because they saw themselves as having the biggest professional army in the world being able to beat in their minds and how you see them as a bunch of farmers and peasents. And when the Americans won (with French help) they were shocked.

  2. In the way they fought the enemy. British troops lined up and marched into battle....patriots hide behind walls and trees. BUT, that is only a very small reason why the British were defeated. Distance involved, money and having there troops other places also contributed to the loss.

  3. Well ....'cause he was a Texas boy .......not many people know that .......George Washington's pappy owned a spread down here in Texas when George was born .....One day Mr. Washington rode in at the ranch house and found his favorite mesquite thee chopped down ......"What the h**l happened here, Georgie ?"........."Well Pa, I cain't tell no lie......I done chopped this here tree down with my hatchet" said George .........."Load up the wagon Ma" said Mr. Washington "If this boy cain't tell no lies.......we shore cain't stay in Texas".........

So they loaded up the wagon and move back East ......Georgie joined the Army and got into a squabble with some English folks and later got involved in politics ......he never got back down here ...but everything he knew .....he learned in Texas .......

  4. Washington led by example.  Perseverance, discipline, honor and duty were traits he exemplified and passed on to his troops.  Washington had help training the troops by the Prussian Baron  von Steuben and the French marquis de LaFayette.
