  1. He gained a parliamentary seat in 1952 and was a leading member of the opposition party, he became the 21st Prime MInister for Australia.

    Noted since his school-days for his erudition, eloquence and incisive wit, Whitlam soon became one of the ALP's star performers. Widely acknowledged as one of the best political speakers and parliamentary debaters of his time, he was also one of the few in the ALP who could hold his own against Robert Menzies on the floor of the House.


  2. He helped turn Australia more towards Asia.

    Also, his government tried to do more for the Aborigines.  It didn't work but nothing has worked with them.

  3. whitlams legacies are simple,he took us to the depths of bankruptsy,his pie in the sky reforms were a disaster,probably the worst primeminister this country has had(no make that the worst)his contributions were nil and he still sucks off of the public purse
