My actual score was 88%. The teacher curved the grades and now my score is 112%. I'm not complaining, but I don't see this is possible...?! Does anyone know how this might have been calculated?

  1. He said it was curved.

That usually works by giving the average grade in class, even if it is a 40%, a C. Then everything else is based on that. I don't usually see it as a number when they do it, but if they have to transfer it to record a numerical mark it might go something like this.

If an average grade, like a C, at your school is a 70, but the average score was a 46, then he basically boosted everyone's score by 24 points to make the average grade a C, or 70%. If you got a 56 it would now be an 80, a 76 would be a 100% and your 88% would be a 112. This may not be the exact way he did it, but should be close.

  2. Maybe the lowest score on the test was 76 and she added 24 points to everyone's grade so they would get somewhere between an 80-115.  Who knows, you could ask you teacher or email him/her.

  3. you probably got extra points or something
