How did I get these random screen names on my buddy list?

I've had my aim account for about 8 years, and i know random screen names will appear like aim bots. But there are a few that are just regular people, and i never added them, wondering how they got on there? This ever happen to anyone?

They could have IMed you when you were not at the computer and "away". I know AIM automatically saves those screen names. Or, if you were signed in, and someone else decided to use your screen name to IM someone they know. I know that often happens when a bunch of friends gather around a computer!
