I bet 50$ on Federer and he's up 5-1 in the first set and loses it, then is up like 5-2 I think and loses that one, WTF! He dominated the beginning of each set perfectly cept maybe his serve and then all of a sudden Rafa is controlling every point. I guess I'll never bet against the king of clay ever again.

  1. Fed cracked a bit and Rafa didn't. Djokovic cracked a bit too yesterday. For sure, hes the best player on clay, but Fed could of had him there, he almost did. Djokovic can beat him too, I don't think hes as close as Fed is, but for sure he will get there. I think Paris is gonna be very interesting, if Fed or Djok manage to hold their nerve (and serve for that matter, Federer) then I think he will be beaten.

  2. Rafa is better on clay than Federer. Its not likely that Federer will be Rafa on clay.

  3. Well I guess he wasn't feeling that good at the start of the match due to his marathon against djo yest., and honestly I don't think he played as well as he did yest. (yest. his play was just mind blowing), but still he's rafa, when he's down he'll just raise his play. And, as I mentioned in another post, it almost seemed like he was toying with fed... being down and almost out and then come back and win. No one will ever come close to this guy on clay. I wish he can start doing much better on other surfaces too... he's does ok as of now, but he needs to win more tourneys on other surfaces. He can start by winning wimby 08 :)

  4. I think that Federer was very disappointed after he had a chance to win the 1st set but lost 7 sets in a row. and even after he barely won the second set, his will was broken (said Nelly Furtado:) and couldn't hold on to the 3rd. They scored very neer to each other in the 3rd set but the unforced errors knocked fed down...

But I liked the match today, I like all fed vs rafa's, and I hope to see them at Paris in the final, I'll die if fed didn't win this year..

  5. Didn't any else notice Nadal took time-out when Federer was about to serve for the first set 5-1.?

Don't any of you guys play tennis? Just imagine you are about to close a set and your opponent takes - time out -

Federer is such a good sport and personally I though Nadal looked rather shamefaced.

It's about time the ATP took a closer look at this ploy that has crept into the men's game.

No doubt it unsettles Federer when his opponent takes suspect injury time out.

Personally I think Federer should wait 2 minutes into injury time then request a toilet break.

After all we all heard a toilet flush when Nadal asked for 'time out' 5-1.

I'm glad Nadal won and keeps his ranking - I question his methods.

Might be an idea if players are only allowed so much injury time in a tournament, once they've used that up they should be declared unfit to play.

Can you imagine if a boxer said ' Could I have some time out he hit me rather hard'

or a golf player said ' my shoes are a bit tight I've got blisters

time out' - just as a winning putt is to go down the hole.

What about a sprinter saying "I'll have to withdraw I've got a sore throat", stopping the event half way round the track.

Federer is a big boy and can take care of himself but we should take care not to judge him too harshly. And think about the honor of the game.

Because it's the game that suffers ultimately.

You watch some great tennis then you get a bit of silly nonsense from a player who isn't handling the pressure.

I also think ALL finals should go to five sets.

  6. u knew rafa is the king of clay, and you STILL betted against him?

  7. Rafael Nadal has the advantage on clay.

  8. Unlucky, you would probably of made a profit of 80 to 100 dollars.  The risk versus reward on this match definitely wasn't worth it. Better luck next time.

Maybe at the French Open bet on a Federer/Nadal final.

  9. lol, you still betted against nadal even though he only lost 2 matches on clay. The reason why federer lost is because he keeps s******g his backhand and forehand during the most crucial points. He starts off the match with sublime shots and angles and than chokes and screws everything up and allows nadal to come back. Nadal is one of those players that keep getting better and better as the match goes on. He is really mature for a 21 year old because you never see him get angry or frustrated during a match. His mental power I think is even greater than federers. He also has great fighting spirit and never gives in. Unlike federer who lost his temper a few times. Nadal probably has more potential than federer in my opinion. If he switched back to playing right, I think he would be number 1. remember, he is playing with his non-dominant hand!!
