  1. Henry VIII did not have very many children.  He had only three surviving legitimage children, Mary (daughter of Katherine  of Aragon) elizabeth 9daughter of Anne boleyn) and Edward (son of Jane Seymour).

Edward VI died in 1553.  He wanted his cousin Jane Grey to become Queen after him, but he did not have the legal right to set aside the succesion as laid down by his father, Henry VIII.  so although Jane Grey ruled for nine days, she was soon deposed by the woman most people regarded as the rightful Queen, Mary, daughter of henry's first wife Katherine of Aragon.  She only reigned for five years, and died childless, so Elizabeth as the next heir became queen.

  2. Hi,

Edward died just short of his 16th birthday. And Mary, was Queen of Scots and was 1st in line to the british throne after Elizabeth. So when Edward died Elizabeth became Queen of England. Mary Stewart (Queen of Scots) was trying to assassinate Elizabeth I with the help of Spain's King Phillip II. Elizabeth signed off on her execution after her lords received evidence. Hoped that helps!!

  3. her siblings all popped their clogs'

  4. Henry VIII had 6 wives: Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves, Katherine Howard and Catherine Parr.

With Catherine of Aragon he had 5 children, but only one of them, Princess Mary survived to adulthood.

With Anne Boleyn he had only 1 child - Princess Elizabeth.

With Jane Seymour he had his only son, Prince Edward.

He didn't have any more children with any of the following wives. Henry also had an illegitmate son, Henry FitzRoy with one of his misstresses, Elizabeth Blaunt. Henry VIII made Henry FitzRoy Duke of Richmond (title he himself occupied prior to acceeding to the Throne) - only one step remaining till legitimizing him (although in any case he wouldn't have place in the line of the succession).

Henry annuled his marriage to Catherine of Aragon, thus their daughter Mary became illigatimate. Henry proclaimed that she would not inherit the Throne and any children that would come from his subsequent marriage to Anne Boleyn would be ahead of her in the line of the succession. Thus, Princess Elizabeth, though younger then Mary, was ahead of her in the Line of the Succession.

However, after Henry got Anne Boleyn executed, he proclaimed Elizabeth illigatimate as well and stripped her from the line of the succession (he did not reinstate Mary though) and proclaimed that his children with Jane Seymour would be his legitimate heirs.

As he had a son with Jane Seymour, the issue of succession was temporarily halted, because under the English Rules of Succession (active up to this day) women can succeed to the Throne only in the absence of a male heir.

In his will, Henry established the line of the succession, which was the following: he would be succeeded by Prince Edward. If Edward died childless, he would be succeeded by Mary. If Mary died childless as well, she would be succeeded by Elizabeth. If Elizabeth should die without heirs as well, she were to be succeeded by the descendants of Henry's younger sister Princess Mary (descendants of his older sister, Princess Margaret, were excluded from the Line of the Succession).

Henry, however, failed to recognize Mary and Elizabeth as his legitimate children, something that would cause both of them a lot of headache later.

After Henry's death his only son Edward succeeded him. He was a weak child and died before coming of age. According to Henry's will, Edward was to be succeeded by Mary. Edward, however, named Jane Grey (eldest living descendant of Henry VIII's sister Princess Mary) as his successor in his will.

This was both against Henry's will and Law, so Jane reigned for 10-12 days only. Mary gathered a huge Army and without a single battle entered triumphantly into London.

Mary married Philip IV of Spain but they were childless. According to Henry VIII's will, Elizabeth were to succeed her. Despite less then warm relationships with Elizabeth, Mary herself named Elizabeth as her heir.

  5. Jane Seymour was never crowned Queen, King Henry VIII promised to crown her as Queen after the birth of his only heir to reward her, but she died within months after Prince Edward was born. According to the English line of succession, males comes before females, older male heirs comes before younger male heirs. Females can only inherit the crown when all of her bothers had died.

After the death of King Henry VIII, his only son Prince Edward was crowned as King Edward VI of England, however, Edward died of tuberculosis at age 15. The next in line to the throne was his elder sister Princess Mary (daughter of Catherine of Aragon), since she was Catholic, members of the privy council wanted another Protestant monarch, so they decided to put Lady Jane Grey on the throne (great niece of Henry VIII, granddaughter of Princess Mary Tudor, who is Henry's youngest sister).

Lady Jane Grey was only Queen for 99 days, because Princess Mary's supporters decided to overthrow her, had her executed, and placed Princess Mary Tudor, the catholic Princess on the throne. Queen Mary ruled England until she died of stomach cancer, and therefore, the crown was finally passed onto her younger sister Princess Elizabeth, who was also the only surviving children of King Henry VIII.

  6. in a steel cage wrestling match.

  7. He did not have that many children.  History tells us that only there were  4 only. in this order;

Mary I (1516-1558) daughter of Catherine of Aragon

Henry Fitzroy (1519-1536) son of Elizabeth Blount (he never married her) and was born illegitimate but Henry VIII, acknowledged him and created him Duke of Richmond and Somerset, He died of Tuberculosis in 1536

Elizabeth I (1533-1603) daughter of Anne Boleyn

Edward VI (1537-1553) Son of Jane Seymour, He died also of tuberculosis in 1553. Jane Seymour did not had anymore children because she died shortly after the birth of Edward.

As you can see, Elizabeth was the only surviving child of Henry VIII when she ascended the throne in 1558 after the death of her sister Mary I

  8. Jane Seymour only had one child.  When Henry VIII died, the son became king (at the age of about 9) but he got sick and died.  He was Henry's only son, so they had to go to the daughters then.   A woman called Lady Jane Grey ruled for 9 days because some people didn't want Henry's eldest daughter Mary to be queen.  Jane Grey was executed, and Mary I (Bloody Mary) became queen.  She died childless at 42, so her younger sister Elizabeth became queen.

  9. Edward VI became King as in England (and UK now) son's take precedence over daughters. As he died childless his oldest half-sister became Queen Mary I. As she also died childless, Elizabeth I came to the throne as the only surviving child of Henry VIII.

  10. He only had 3 surviving children, Edward, Mary and Elizabeth.  I presume Edward and Mary died so Elizabeth became Queen.  Edward was only 9 when Henry 8th died but a sickly child

  11. His son died.  His daughter Mary became queen.  When she died Elizabeth became queen
