And please save the pointless coments about Sharapova ( grunts, aroggnat etc) for some other question. I just want to know what happend it the match. Does this girl Alla Kudryavtseva has really good game, can she go futher or Sharapova was really really bad?

  1. She basically beat herself by serving horrendously and making too many errors.  Her opponent played steady, but if Maria had been serving better she would have won.

  2. These days it all comes down to how well Sharapova is serving that will decide what kind of result she has in her matches. If she is serving well, she wins easily. If she is missing the first serve and throwing in a lot of double faults, she either faces a tough match against a lower ranked opponent, or goes down easily against a quality player.

Today she met an opponent rank 154 in the world but someone who can play. If anyone saw Alla's match against Venus last year, you knew she had game and had that spirited fighting spirit that so many of the much lower ranked players don't seem to possess when playing top ranked opponents.

I believe Maria had 5 double-faults in the opening set alone, and perhaps 7 for the match. She also had little answers for Alla's powerful ground stokes, and Kudryavtseva's ability to match Maria shot for shot from the baseline.

The score was 6-2, 6-4, and trust me, it could have been a lot worse for Maria, if Kudryavtseva didn't squandered leads to go up 5-2 in the second and and then close of the match at 5-3.

  3. well Maria made to many unforce errors but she did manage to pull of some points from the net when she needed to the most. Also her serve wasn't working at all at the end of the day the other girl played well and stayed up with her and didn't let herself get overpowered from Maria. I think she might make it to the quarters and she has a good all around game and has improved her movement and her forehand is probably her biggest shot.

  4. maybe she had some tummy pain? or invisible injury? lol even if she did, i just like how she doesn't make excuses about it. so whatever it is, i hope she gets it together and fares better next time.

she played bad today, i watched it.. lol i actually thought she was going down 2,2.. but hey, she's maria sharapova. at least she fought a little bit. her most glorious shot (backhand) was just off.. no serve, off timing, and she was like the cow on ice she described herself as.. only it was grass.. not clay.

too bad for her... she might very well be a little more distracted off court, who knows? i doubt it.. she just didn't handle the conditions as well as she could. she looked down and disinterested when she was down in the match, lacking the fighting spirit.. she looked really off, even weird mood-wise (the fist pumps and cmon's don't really count imo because that's just routine to her, even when she's winning she does that).. so that's just my observation today. and her opponent was just way better this afternoon. so congratulations to kudryavtseva. i think she's a solid player with big strokes, this might just be a lucky streak for her.. but who knows, it's the first time i've seen her play.. she tends to have a shaky serve when she's nervous i think.. or just out of the blue. after she won the 1st set, she just started dumping her serves to the net or flying them to center court lol (they played on court 1. sharapova was doing the same with her backhand, missing her backhand by several feet and netting her forehand. it looked like she didn't really have the oomph behind her shots that she normally has. or the resolve to just assassinate the tennis ball)..

but, overall i think kudryavtseva has potential to have a big game.. remember radwanska last year? she's going up now.. maybe kudryavtseva can do the same thing? who knows

  5. she made WAY TOO MANT ERRORS...

  6. 6-2  6-4, royal butt whooping

  7. She lost... she pulled off a Serena Williams (defeated herself).....or maybe it was the outfit that she wasn't feeling that caused her to lose...

  8. I think Maria played badly - a lot of times she lost the point, rather than her opponent winning it, and served quite a few double faults.  That said, Kudryavteva played well, but I don't think she's a threat to the other top players.

  9. Sharapova really played one of her worst matches ever....

She lost the first set 6-2 so easily!!!

and in the second, she broke in the first game and lead 2-0 but lost 4 consecutive games and then Alla lead 4-2. Maria then tied the score at 4-4 but lost the next 2 games and the match 2-6, 4-6.

I am crazy about Sharapova, but i have to admit that she played horrible and made too many unforced errors. I thought that Alla played less than well.........

But what can you say, we all have bad days....................

  10. i've seen the match and have to say Maria played without any confidence, it looked like she played with her brakes on.

Alla is a pretty decent server but somehow she still managed to hold her serve.

end of the story and end of Maria's dream to get her 2nd Wimbledon crown.

  11. Did anyone else think that maybe Maria played terrible because her opponent made her play that way? Nah..
