Question:

How did St Albans become Mayfair?

You may remember a little while back there was a competition for Here and Now Monopoly - UK edition where cities in the United Kingdom got to vote for their favourite town to become Mayfair on the new monopoly board. In the end, after much voting, a city called St Albans won.

I am asking this: why do you think that a relatively unknown city became Mayfair, when others have far many more people than this small town. Any ideas?

  1. My opinion on that is that many people who voted liked the idea of a small and little known place getting fame as a result of being chosen for Monopoly.  It is sort of like the triumph of the underdog.  People go for that sort of idea.
