How did Tebow win the Heisman First he was a sop he lost 4 games and the kid Mcfadden had a better Sr.

year than the year before I use to think the Heisman was a big deal but when they give it to the most popular person I can,t get behind that. There is no way that they should have given it to Tebow not that he is not a good college player but they have nerve given it Heisman to a Sop.

I am from Arkansas and a big mcfadden fan. ESPN was the ones that were really hyping Tebow. Mark May, Lou Holtz, I think there were others. I think about the only one that was talking up Mcfadden was Herbstreit and he ended up pimping Tebow if memory serves correctly.

Honestly, I think it has to do with the fact that Florida has alot more tradition, national appeal, more revenue producer for ESPN, typically produce better teams than Arkansas.  Arkansas and the Razorbacks really don't have much appeal to the nation, or ESPN like Florida and the Gators. They'd also recently won a national championship. I think it's a popularity contest not who was the best. Arkansas fans went nuts on the message boards

The dude scored over 40 touchdowns, and accounted for more yards than McFadden. When the award was given, Florida only had 3 losses, and was in the top 10. Arkansas had more losses, and McFadden didn't have the stats. Who cares what class they are, if they can play, and for the record, McFadden was a junior, not a senior.

Tebow won it because of his personal stats.  The record TD's he got in the SEC was the key.

More importantly, Heisman trophy to me is over rated in "judging NFL talent".  I think it's more of a popularity contest on the image of the player and their school.  Take a look at some of the recent players on the list ( link pasted below) : Troy Smith, Eric Crouch, Chris Weinke, Danny Wuerffel.

I completely agree. It's come down to more of a who is more popular award then who is the best player award. Mcfadden had way less support than Tebow and still put up a mega season.

McFadden fumbled alot and Felix Jones went over a thousand yards as well.  They looked at the offense as a whole and not the individual.  Tebow was the first to rush for 20 td's and throw for 20 in the same year and that new standard gave him the Heisman even if he shouldn't have deserved it because he played in a gimmick offense as well.

you are an idiot...tebow was the best player in the nation last year, he meant more to his team than anyone in the country, who cares if he was a sophomore?...i don't mean to tear down mcfadden, but if you take mcfadden away from arkansas they still had felix jones, if you take tebow away from florida's offense there isn't much left

It would probably be to your advantage to watch Tebow play.  He has a major impact on the game.  I think that was the factor that would influence me to vote for Tebow in the Heisman race.
