I know there's a story there somewhere. Someone told me it is definitely his real name, despite the fact he was born in Iowa. He's one of my favorite CFLers, even though I'm a Lion's fan.

  1. It is simply because Tom Canada is the man.  It has nothing to do with it being a foreign word.  It is only because Tom Canada is sweet, and therefore needed to be born with an equally sweet name, eh?

  2. It's the Spanish Canada, meaning gorge or valley. It's got nothing to do with the Dominion of Canada. It just gets mispronounced in Canada and maybe Iowa! There should be a tilde on the n which means the proper way to say it is more like kenyadda.
