How did USA become exactly what founding fathers warned against?

Im taking civics class and have noticed big diff between how we started and what we are today. Its practically opposite.

1. Washington and Madison strongly warned against factions and a party system, yet this is PRECISELY what we have today. (?)

2. Thomas Jefferson strongly warned against unapportioned taxing, yet this is PRECISELY what we have today, with the income tax.

3. Practically ALL the founding fathers warned against getting entangled in foreign wars, yet this is PRECISELY what the US has done in the last 100 years (excempting ww1 and ww2, because i think that was necessary)

I could go on on on but dont want to labor my point. My question is how did we end up becoming exactly what we dint want to become? Its almost some kind of divine joke or something.

What do you think?

  1. It's because of the Lizard Men. Duh!

  2. You're not misinformed, because we are really headed off the wrong track, and many people don't realize, that entangling alliances, and foreign intervention was what caused 9/11. You know, we were also advised by Jefferson not to establish a central bank(Federal Reserve) not to search people's houses unless with the owners permission or with a warrant (patriot act, FISA, and HR1955 weakened our rights, and government has authority under these bills to search home without a warrant, and can throw you in jail labeled as a "terrorists". People need to realize that foreign intervention will cause another 9/11, central banks will destroy our currency, our life, and ignoring the Constitution will only make things worse.

If the Founders were alive today, they'd start another revolution.

  3. Elephants and asses s******g the masses...human nature I guess.

  4. They were very intellegent people who could foresee what could possibly happen. It's just like the 10 Commandments...most of the things we know we shouldn't be doing because we are told not to, we do anyway.

I think you would enjoy reading Representative's Ron Paul's book The Revelation: A Manifesto. It talks about your issues exactly; our involvement in foreign issues, taxing and the politcal division in America. Read, I know you'll love it!

  5. These people were alive in the 1700s. How do you know how they would have felt being in American government after 9/11? Face it: times have changed since the 1700s. But most of their vision for America is true today.

  6. Study much more of American history and you'll find that we're doing exactly what Adams, Jefferson, Madison, Monroe, J. Quincy Adams, Jackson, Tyler, Polk, Taylor Lincoln, Grant, et. al. would be doing today.  A civics class merely touches the surface.  Read what really happened.

  7. Those great men lived in a time when over half of the civilized world was a European colony. Things are much more complex now. They had the foresight to write the constitution with a certain broad based fabric to allow for the changes we have seen in the time since its construction.

  8. self serving interest people that slithered their way into our government.

it was supposed to be by the people and for the people.

now its by the people and for the people......with the most money.

  9. IDIOT FAT A** PEOPLE.  but mainly our educational system is to blame for the american idiots who aren't familiar with the foundation our country was founded on.  I've taken similar classes and read similar books.

  10. We didn't.  You mention three things.  We also became a lot of what they wanted us to become.

It's like tossing out the roast beef because the plate was three carrots short.

    Silly.
