Wales got their 2009 Six Nations campaign off to the best possible start with back-to-back wins against Scotland and England. It was only when they travelled to Paris in their third match that they suffered their first defeat of the championships. Following a breathtaking start, things began to slow down for Warren Gatland’s side. Only a narrow victory against Italy helped secure them their third win, but there wasn’t to be a fourth as Grand Slam winners Ireland defeated the Welsh on home soil.
