Well, in a nutshell, Heathcliff dies, so Cathy is finally free.  At the end Mr. Lockwood see that Cathy and Hareton have not only settled the hostility that was between them but are falling in love, much to Nelly's delight.

Heathcliff dies, young Catherine and Hareton get married, Nelly hears a story from a very upset young boy that he saw the ghost of Heathcliff and "some woman" out on the moors.
