Swimming has no age limit. Gymnastics has over 16 because they're worried about injuries. There's no other young swimmers because you usually need more experience and muscle mass to compete, but I guess this one was just extraordinary!

The minimum age for gymnastics and swimming are different.

It really depends on the events.
