My son needs to dress like a matronly teacher next week. I have a slight idea but I don't want to ridicule him. Please help...

  1. The usual picture is that of a short, stout, bosomy woman with thick glasses and ugly shoes.  The hair escapes the bobby pins and the lipstick is bright red.  The main characteristic is the behavior: motherly and compassionate.

  2. matronly? Is he cross dressing? They wore like long loose dresses. They looked like tents basically.

  3. Before what?  What era is he supposed to be representing?  Matronly means motherly, so it would be somewhat old-fashioned and dowdy.
