How did ancient civilizations could align their constructions and pyramids to exact cardinal points?

Probably they had all the time in the world then to observe how the sun rises, sets, the different seasons, the shadows, the time when plants became ripe. It was more out of close observations, discussions, word of mouth and then they began to document what they had seen and experienced. These were people who were able to think further. Their Kings and Queens then believe that the higher they go, they nearer they get to eternity. So in a way, they were quite open- minded then.

That is an interesting question that has been explored by many.  One of the theories is that there were indeed alien visitors to this planet sometime in the past.
