  1. http://mothra.rerf.or.jp/ENG/A-bomb/Hist...

it created a nuclear weapon that can be used destructively today

  2. you do mean the 'little boy' and 'big mother',

the ones that struck Japan in Hiroshima and Nagasaki right?

Well I'm not a citizen of Japan, but firstly, in their constitution today, they declare they will be pacifist (to the best of my knowledge)

also the USA and Soviet Union - in the Arms race - beuilt up stocks of atomic weapons so that a) could reduce need for relatively more expensive conventional armies and b) spend this money elsewhere,

while threatening each other with nuclear war, which many ppl feared intensely. This threat of nuclear war in effect mostly actually prevented the hostilities begween the two Sups from escalating into actual conflict

  3. It gave us a horrific picture of death and destruction, unparalleled in the annals of history. The atomic bomb also set off a mad and insane arms race which, if unchecked, will eradicate the whole of mankind. It has also created an awareness in mankind that unless the world is made 'nuclear arms free', we are heading towards self destruction. One of the positive aspects of the bomb has been to deter the nations from needlessly pursuing warfare and acts of destruction in other countries. Best would be "NO N-WEAPONS".
