 In 2010, Yushu earth quake struck China, its origin lied in Yushu, Qinghai province. 2,698 people lost their lives in this deadly earth quake. The reason for this earth quake is defined as the collision of  the Indian plate with the eurasian plate. The major deformation that led to such a massive earthquake in this area was the  crustal shortening.
